Welcome to The Gardeners of Central Lake County, Illinois. We are a group of gardening enthusiasts that meet once a month for community
with other gardeners and to be inspired by outstanding local speakers. Besides the monthly meetings we have yearly activities such as Plant Sale, Garden walk etc. The club has been in existence since 1959. We are affiliated with Gardeners of America and American Horticulture Society.

May 11 –- It’s Not a Bug, It’s Abiotic by Sharon Yiesley, Horticultural Services Abiotic?? What does that mean? This word refers to problems that are NOT caused by a living pest (insect or disease). Abiotic problems have non-living causes like weather, poor planting techniques, soil problems, etc. We often focus on problems caused by pests, but these abiotic problems are often more common and widespread. Learn what they are so you can recognize what is going on in your garden. CANCELLED

Oct 12- Permaculture Gardening- by Alicia Dodd Alicia is the creator and manager of the Fremont Township Community Garden and will be sharing a Permaculture approach to managing our environment that conserves resources, encourages biodiversity, and brings our surroundings to life! Join us as she shares lessons learned with integrated pest management, weed control, and plant selection for successful chemical-free gardening.

If you love the taste of a juicy, ripe, homegrown tomato and are in need of garden space to grow your own produce, then Libertyville Gardens is for you. You have the option to lease a 20’x20’ or 20’x10’ garden plot for the next growing season. Libertyville Gardens includes staked garden plots, multiple water sources, a storage shed and a shaded area for resting. Once registered you will be notified via email with additional details. Age: 18+ Location: The Grounds of The Chapel 1200 American Way, Libertyville (east of Rt.45 off Winchester Rd.) 20 x 10 plot ($20 + $25 deposit=$45) 20 x 20 plot ($35 + $25 deposit=$60) Refundable deposit of $25 required, to be returned at the end of the season if plot is cleared.
